The Law College Dhanbad
The Law College Dhanbad was established in the year 1976 and during its nascent stage it used to function in the premises of the H. E. School, Hirapur, Dhanbad. The College got its affiliation from the Ranchi University, Ranchi because of perseverance of Late Binod Bihari Mahato, Late Rang Lal Choudhary and Late Jamini Bhushan Lala from the academic session 1979-1980.
The trio was accomplished academicians, legal luminaries, management experts and persons of eminence in Public Service. They envisioned the College to impart Legal Education spreading legal awareness and empowering the helpless in the society. The College remained affiliated to Ranchi University, Ranchi till the establishment of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag a teaching-cum-affiliating state university on the 17th of September, 1992, after the bifurcation of Ranchi University, by Act 3 of 1990 passed by Bihar Assembly.
The College remained permanently affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag till Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University, Dhanbad was carved out of the former University vide Gazette Notification No.-216, dated: 11th, April 2017 and recognised by Bar Council of India, New Delhi. It conducts three year LL.B. (Hons.) course in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of Bar Council of India and Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University.
Law College Dhanbad is situated at Hirapur – Damodarpur Road which is about 2.5 km from the Dhanbad Collectorate. The College Campus covers an area of 3 acres land out of which 1 acre has been donated by one of the greatest leaders and pioneers of Jharkhand Movement, Late Binod Bihari Mahato, Ex-Member of Parliament, Giridih for constructing the building of the College. In his endeavour to spread the importance of education among the downtrodden he gave a famous slogan.
The college has a team of able and dedicated full-time faculty members as well as legal practioners which is periodically supplemented with visiting faculty. We look forward in true spirit towards ushering a new era of positive and constructive change around us by dedicating ourselves in the field of Legal studies.
